Özet |
Tolstoy (1877) remarks in Anne Karenina that while happy families are all alike, each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way. After more than a century, Hulme makes the same argument for worldwide poverty in this book. Although the book tackles a challenging issue, global poverty, this does not hinder its appeal to audiences with different backgrounds. An academic in development research or a reader who has recently developed an interest in poverty would find the book helpful and a practical guide to understanding the phenomenon. The main concepts are presented simply and then developed through subsequent chapters. Moreover, the systematic approach to the topic taken by the author makes the book reader-friendly.
