| Nine selected genotypes (DE 01, DE 03, DE 17, DE 44, DE 64, DE 69, DE 80, DE 83 and DE 101) and 7 standard cultivars (Altiınova, Kaplan 86, Șebin, Yalova 1, Yalova 2, Yalova 3 and Yalova 4) of walnut grown naturally from seedlings originating from Denizli Province, Turkey were evaluated during 2002-03. Data were recorded for nut weight, kernel weight, kernel yield, nut length, nut width, cheek, shell colour, shell roughness, shell thickness, shell breakage, kernel fullness, kernel defect, kernel colour, kernel removal, shell streak, kernel shrivelling and harvesting date. Variations in nut and kernel traits were found among genotypes and cultivars. Kernel yields of over 55% indicated the superiority of the 6 genotypes studied. Fruits of walnut genotypes and cultivars ripened between early September and mid-October. |
