Özet
Acute phase reactants such as CRP and ferritin are increased in brucellosis because it is an infectious disease. In this study, three cases with brucellosis having very high ferritin levels are presented. The patients ages were 17, 40 and 45 respectively and all of them were male. All cases had symptoms consistent with brucellosis with brucella agglutination titers above 1/1280. Ferritin levels of the cases were 1500 ng/ml, 893 ng/ml and 816 ng/ml, respectively. The first two patients were treated with doxycycline, streptomycin and rifampicin and the last with doxycycline, gentamicin and ciprofloxacin. Clinical picture recovered after antibrucellar treatment and ferritin levels declined to normal ranges. In conclusion, these three cases show that ferritin levels may increase to very high levels in brucellosis.
