| Özet |
| This Forum explores how educators in schools and universities approach controversial issues in societies facing democratic decline, conflict, or political restriction. While open discussion is often seen as central to democratic education, teachers’ capacity and willingness to address divisive topics depend greatly on their political and cultural contexts. Drawing on examples from Hong Kong, Russia, Turkey, Indonesia, Thailand, and other settings, the Forum brings together researchers working in or on illiberal environments to highlight the moral and professional dilemmas educators face. The contributions shed light on how teachers navigate questions of neutrality, safety, and risk, and how these choices reflect wider struggles over democracy. Through academic research as well as personal, reflective accounts, the Forum aims to deepen understanding of what it means to teach critically in politically challenging times … |
