The current account deficit problem has started to become a big problem for many developing countries, including Turkey. In this sense, it is very crucial to understand the determinants of the current account deficit and to ensure that the current account deficit becomes sustainable with the right financial instrument. The aim of this study is to test the determinants of current account deficit in the Turkish economy. In the model, foreign direct investments, real effective exchange rate and economic growth rate were accepted as the determinants of the current account deficit. In the analysis, the period of 1980-2019 was considered and VAR analysis was applied. Non-stationary variables were made stationary by taking the difference before being included in the VAR analysis.
