| Patients with chronic cardiac and pulmonary disease have limitations in their exercise capacity, which may be improved after specific training in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program. The initial evaluation of the patient referred for cardiopulmonary rehabilitation includes history and physical examination, as well as review of the laboratory and physiologic testing data. Individual assessment of exercise capacity by clinically available exercise tests supplies valuable information about the patient that should be used in the customized rehabilitation process.
