Özet
One of the most disputable issues in Turkish Educational History is related to the early private schools, the date of their establishment and the name of the firstly established Turkish private school. Although there is no specific and detailed research about private schools in Turkey, there are a number of research results and some limited information in books related to the history of education. However, these sources include contradicting results. This study aims to discuss and investigate the existing information about private schools in Turkish Educational History and to provide reliable information on the history of Turkish private schools. The data used in this study have been gathered from books, articles and original documents from the period.
