Özet
Aquaculture, which is one of the most important sources of animal protein, is also one of the important sectors that provide continuous input to the economies of many countries today. The fact that Turkey is surrounded by seas on three sides and has rich inland water resources necessitates Turkey to be an important country in terms of production, marketing and consumption of aquaculture. The fact that the current situation of fishing production, marketing and consumption in Turkey can be improved is defined as an opportunity for the restructuring of the sector and at this point, Fishing Cooperatives are becoming a subject that should be adopted as a value. It should not be forgotten that cooperatives that offer a partnership model that prioritizes mutual assistance, solidarity and cooperation will contribute to the acceleration of development in this sector in Turkey. Based on the fact that Fisheries Cooperatives, which were established according to the Cooperatives Law No. 1163 and have 594 cooperatives and a total of 31 029 partners, are a serious alternative to the problems of the sector, this study aims to address various aspects of Fisheries Cooperatives in Turkey and to develop suggestions for the development of the sector.
