Özet |
Polyaniline-emeraldine salt (PANI-ES) has gained great interest as a catalyst in environmental remediation. PANI-ES was synthesized by in-situ chemical oxidation polymerization method, which was subjected to a comprehensive investigation in the catalytic reduction performance of this cost-effective polymer on anionic and cationic dyes through a systematic approach, considering their geometry and molecular sizes to clarify degradation. The effects of initial methylene blue (MB) concentration, catalyst dose, and reducing agent amount were investigated for the determination of optimum conditions. The catalytic degradation of dyes followed the pseudo-first-order kinetic. MB exhibited the highest catalytic activity among all dyes. The decolorization of MB was 95 % in 7 min with the degradation rate constant k=46.7 × 10–2 min-1. The decolorization performance of anionic dyes generally surpassed that of cationic dyes. The morphological and structural changes of the PANI-ES catalyst during different reduction intervals were acquired by FTIR, XRD, and SEM analyses. FTIR analysis confirmed the gradual decrease in peak intensities belonging to the aromatic rings of MB. Strikingly, the classical cauliflower-like structural morphology of PANI-ES significantly altered in 7 min catalytic reduction, resulting in the formation of irregular-shaped structures. |
