In this study, relation of the greater palatine foramen with molar teeth, opening regio of foramen to the hard palate, the number of the lesser palatine foramens and the bridges bone of the palatine grooves, variations of the crests bone and spines were searched on 60 skulls. Greater palatine foramen was found 12.5% in the medial to the second molar tooth, 35% in the medial of the interproximal to the second and the third molar teeth and 25.6% at the distal of the third teeth. The distance between the greater palatine foramen and median palatine suture was 1.54±0.02 em on the right and 1.56±0.02 on the left. Greater palatine foramen opens to the hard palate 40% vertically and 60% in the antero-inferiorly or horizontally. The number of the lesser palatine foramens changed between 1 and 5 on the booth sides. It was observed that there existed one-sided bone bridges on the seven skulls (11.6%) which were examined. The structures of the palates were smooth and some spines restrincting the palatine grooves or crests bone were noticed on the remaining skulls. |
