Özet
This study is performed to reveal the biomechanical responses of medial collateralligament (MCL) and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) at knee joint against variable forces applied anterior direction. The effects of MCL and ACL on anterior stability of the knee is examined. The knees of 10 adult cadavers taken into the study are divided into two groups, 5 cadavers in each group. With the knees at complete extension and 20° flexion positions, anterior tibial displacement amounts against the forces of 100 N and 200 N's which is applied after making cut initially on ACL then MCL at the first group and on MCL then ACL at the second group are measured. At the end of the measurements, we noticed that ACL cut; increased anterior tibial displacement markedly more than MCL cut; however the complete extension and 20° flexion positions of the knee had not much effect. According to these findings, it is suggested that the basic anatomic structure which plays the major role at anterior stability of the knee joint is ACL; MCL contributes to a lesser extend to stability.
