Purpose: In th1s study, because of the relationship with the subcoracoid impmgement syndrome, vanous morphometnc measurements of the coracoid process were calculated. Material and Methods: A total of 80 dry scapulae with unknown sex and age were obtamed from the Department of Anatomy. Scapulae were classified mto 3 groups according to shape of the reg1on between the coraco1d process and glenoidal cav1ty. Vanous measurements were calculated. Results: It was observed that, the percentapes of Type l sphencal m shape was 37.5%, Type II square m shape was 32.5% and Type lll was hooked 1n shape was 30%. Statistical analysis evaluations showed correlatoons between the length and thickness of the coracoid process (r= 0.432, p< 0.05). In comparison of the nght and left scapulae, the length of the coracood process was observed to be longer on the nght scapula than the left, and thos difference was statistiCally s1gmficant (t= 2.111, p< 0.05). Conclusion: In present study, it was observed that the morphometry of the coracoid process of the scapulae m* ght show promment differences. In patients presentmg with complaints of shoulder pam, anatomocal vanat10ns of the coracood process, should be cons1dered Important 1n planning surg1cal mtervent1ons to the relavant area. |
