Özet
In this study, 82 raw meat and 108 cooked meat purchased from markets and local consumer shop in Ankara during the period of May-September 2001 were examined for the presence of motile Aeromonas spp. In total, 65 (34.21%) of the 190 meat samples examined were found positive for Aeromonas spp. These microorganisms were isolated in 86.95%, 67.79%, of raw chicken and raw red meat samples, while they were found very low incidence 3.44%, 6.00% in cooked samples (chicken and red meat), respectively. A. hydrophila was the predominant species in both raw and cooked meat products, followed by A. sobria. Motile Aeromonas strains isolated in this study were examined for their abilty to produce haemolysin and strains identified as A.sobria (88.23%) and A. hydrophila (85.10%) were the stronger producers of haemolysin.
