Three Cases of Solar Maculapathy Caused By The Light of a New Military Device

Özet
Solar maculopathy, is a photochemical and thermal injury caused by especially visible light in macula. It most frequently occurs after looking directly to sun or watching solar eclipse without protective eyewear. It may also occur as a result of exposure to some strong light sources. Here, we reported 3 cases of maculopathy which developed by looking at the light of a military device without protective eyewear. The cases presented with the symptom of central scotoma. Visual acuities and anterior segment examinations were normal. Fundus examinations showed retinal pigment epithelial changes and fluorescein angiographies revealed window defects on the right eyes. Optic coherence tomography showed disruption of IS/OS zone and retinal pigment epithelial changes. All cases reported small central scotoma in Amsler card examination.
