Özet |
The Kazakhs lived in a large area stretching from the vast steppes of Central Asia to the Altai region, the homeland of the Turks. The Kazakh Khanate was founded in the 15th century. The Russian invasion directed towards the Kazakh steppe began in the 18th century and continued until the beginning of the 19th century when Kazakhstan came under Russian rule. The Russian invasion caused a Tatar influence on the cultural life of the Kazakhs, who were leading nomadic and partially nomadic lives. This influence first appeared through the Tatar mullahs and merchants who came to Kazakhstan. The influence became even more effective when Kazakh students began to study at Tatar medreses which were opened in the Volga-Ural region. Jadidist thoughts, which were widespread especially in these medreses, also began to be observed in Kazakh cultural life. This study aims to discuss the Tatar cultural influence on the Kazakhs throughout history and to look into the ways in which Jadidist ideas were reflected in Kazakh cultural life. © Ahmet Yesevi University Board of Trustees. |
