Özet
The aims of the study were to estimate the genetic parameters of live weights characteristics in Japanese quails. Total 1244 quails (616 male, 628 female) were used in the study. Individual animal model with REML procedure was used for the analyses. Heritabilities and standard errors of hatching and weekly weights from hatching to 5 were 0.74±0.07, 0.38±0.06, 0.34±0.06, 0.40±0.06, 0.47±0.07 and 0.45±0.07 respectively. The strongest genetic correlations were found between W1 and W2, W2 and W3, W3 and W4, W4 and W5 (0.91-0.93). Generally, among the weekly genetic correlations were higher than the phenotypic correlations. Strong genetic correlations among the weekly weights suggest an earlier selection for 5 week weights.
