| Özet |
| Our knowledge of the material culture of the 3rd millennium BC in the Southeastern Turkey and Northern Syria is largely based on burial findings rather than settlements. The most important reason for this is that the number of settlement areas that can be uncovered is quite low due to the presence of thick late period layers over the Early Bronze Age layers in the mounds. However, it was very easy to excavate the necropolises located on the slopes of the mounds, outside or right next to the settlement that became widespread in the region during the 3rd Millennium BC. The tombs with rich grave goods, mainly consisting of many pottery, provided a better understanding of the EBA material culture. The necropolis on the northeastern slope of the Oylum Höyük, dated to the second half of the 3rd millennium BC, also reveals comprehensive information about the EBA burial traditions and material culture of the region. During the excavations carried out in the necropolis between 1989 and 2004, simple earth, jar, pithos, stone chist and chamber tombs and kitchen-functional spaces associated with these tombs were unearthed. The pottery, metal finds and various ornaments found in the tombs show an integrity with the material culture of Northern Syria and especially the Middle Euphrates Region in the second half of the 3rd millennium BC. |
