Özet |
The Coastal Western Anatolia, while culturally connected to the inland regions of Anatolia and Aegean, is a region that also has its own dynamics. Significant changes in political and socioeconomic contexts took place with the beginning of the 3rd millennium BCE in the coastal region of western Anatolia, and these changes also found expression in its architecture. In this period, the settlements of the Coastal Western Anatolia and the Eastern Aegean Islands were planned according to the Aegean Settlement Pattern, in which the settlements were encircled by defense systems, and had adjacently built long houses that opened onto streets or alleys. On the other hand, in Inland Western Anatolia, the structures were built in line with the Anatolian Settlement Plan, in which they were lined up with their backs leaning against the defense systems, and opened onto central courtyards. In the second half of the 3rd millennium BCE, despite the architectural techniques and materials remaining as before, the development of upper and lower city concepts and the presence of public and central buildings all indicate that hierarchical structuring had grown in the region, and that the regional changes in social and political structures were reflected in its architecture. |
