Özet |
Efforts to increase the heat transfer capability of water, which is the most used fluid in heat transfer from fluid to fluid, remain up to date. Heating installation and domestic hot water production by solar energy systems are two of the most common uses of heat exchangers in practice. One of the simplest and most economical types of heat exchangers is the shell-and-tube heat exchanger, considering its production, installation, and maintenance. For this type of heat exchanger to provide maximum performance in minimum volume, it is important to improve the fluid properties along with the design improvements. In this study, hot water production by turbulent flow of water enriched in terms of thermal conductivity with micro-scale copper powders flowing through a shell and tube heat exchanger was investigated. For this purpose, a heat exchanger with a diameter of 18 cm and a length of 40 cm was designed and manufactured. To create turbulent flow conditions, baffle plates were placed in the Shell side. The fluid inlet temperature and mass flow rate were determined to be in the range of 50-70 C and 0.2-0.5 kg/s, respectively. The effects of the volumetric concentration of the microparticle hot fluid and the rate of inlet into the heat exchanger on the heat transfer performance were investigated. The hot fluid was prepared in such a way that its volumetric concentration was between 1-5%. The heat exchanger efficiency was compared for micro particle and non-micro particle fluid under certain inlet and ambient conditions.
