METHODS: Universe of this descriptive study was all of the people admitting to a family health center in Van city who were upper than 18 age. Researchers tried to reach everyone who admitted to family health center in 30-31 March 2015. A questionnaire was applied to all of the 154 participants who had consent to participate. Data analyses were made in SPSS 13.0. Descriptive statistics and chi square test were used for statistical method.RESULTS: Of the participants,% 68, 8 were female,% 31, 2 were male.% 7, 3 of the participants who had used an antibiotic in the last one month, had started to use by getting the drug from a pharmacy by theirself.% 92, 7 of them said that a doctor offered it.% 27, 3 of the participants reported they requested for doctor to prescribe antibiotic when they had been admitted him for any reason.% 39 reported they were stocking an antibiotic in their houses.% 95, 5 of the participants didn't take any education about the antibiotic use before.DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Rate of requesting for doctor to prescribe antibiotic and stocking antibiotic at home were found high in the participants. The number of the participants who had taken education about antibiotic use is quite a little. İt is significant to train people about rational antibiotic use and to carry on studies about decreasing the irrational antibiotic use. |
