Özet
Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is one of the most important agricultural crops ofTurkey, having a history of nearly 150 years in the country. Potato virus Y (PVY) is oneof the most important agents causing potato crop losses worldwide. In the last decade,several strains of PVY have been differentiated. The strains cause different symptoms onnumerous commercial potato cultivars. In this study, we report a survey of PVY strains,performed on potatoes in 2015, in which 61 potato leaves and 20 weed samples werescreened from potato growing areas of Niğde, Nevşehir and Kayseri provinces in Turkey.The samples were tested by serological (ELISA) and molecular (Multiplex-RT-PCR)methods. Strains were differentiated by using strain specific primers.
