Özet
The present study aimed to determine the properties of slaughter and carcass traits and the effects of sex and breed on these properties. The study was performed in Paşaçayi{dotless}r district affiliated to central province of Kars. The total of 139 ducks consisting of 64 native Turkish duck and 75 Pekin duck were used in the study. The effect of sex on hot carcass, head, liver, intestine, breast and wing weight were found to be statistically significant (P<0.05, P<0.001). Only, the effects of breed on heart weight was found to be statistically significant (P<0.05). Nevertheless, the interactive effects of sex and breed on heart and liver weight and carcass yield and heart, liver, breast and neck ratio were determined to be statistically significant (P<0.05, P<0.001). Slaughter and hot carcass weights of the male ducks were higher than that of female ducks. At the same time, slaughter and hot carcass weights of the Pekin ducks were higher than that of native Turkish ducks. This study is important to determine the effects of sex and breed on slaughter and carcass traits of ducks reared breeder conditions. In addition, for the first time of ducks reared breeder conditions in Kars province is also important.
