Özet |
The self-fertile sweet cherry cultivar - Lapins - on Gisela®5 dwarfing rootstock produces excessive amounts of fruits, and thus, fruit size is considerably diminished. In this study the effect of spur (May Bouquet) thinning applied before bud burst on the fruit quality was investigated. Four different spur thinning treatments were applied in the first year: 50%, 33%, 25%, and 20.%. The following year no thinning was applied in order to determine the follow up effect of the first year's treatments. In the experimental sweet cherry trees, pomological and vegetative measurements were done. In the first year, the spur number per unit area of stem decreased with the increased thinning level. In the first year the spur thinning resulted in smaller fruit size than that of control trees;.however, in the second year, fruit size was positively affected by the first year' treatments.
