Özet
Purpose: In this study, the use of Al-Li based alloys in the aerospace industry, the problems encountered, and the proposal of solutions have been examined.Theory and Methods: The types and usages of Al-Li based alloys on structural parts are listed and mechanical properties are given detailed. Microstructure and welding ability are investigated. Results: Instead of high strength 2XXX and 7XXX alloys, Al-Li alloys are started to be used in aerospace industry. The most challenging property is their weight reduction ability without sacrificing strength and corrosion resistance. Conclusion: Al-Li based alloys have been continuing to be developed. Nowadays, static and dynamic corrosion resistance are getting increased by the third generation Al-Li alloys. In addition, 2055 Al-Li alloys has 5% lower density than 7055 alloys.
