Aim: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the duration of computer and communication technologies (CCT) usage and physical activity (PA) among geriatrics. Method: Thirty-two participants aged between 60 and 77 years were asked about their exercise habits, duration frequency of Internet usage, attitudes towards exercise with a computer supported (CS) program, and use of web sites related to PA. The relationship between parameters was analyzed. Results: Men had used the internet for more years than women. Exercise habits strongly correlated with years of internet use. Weekly use was related to an increase in exercising with a CS program; utilizing web sites for PA and benefit of web sites. Increase in hours of daily internet use was related to the experience of pain in various regions. PA was related to an increase in exercising with the help of web sites (p<0.05). Conclusion: Geriatrics stated that increased duration of CCT use was related to an increase in their PA requirements. It was determined that these requirements were balanced by CS exercise options and by obtaining recreational activity. |
