| ABS TRACT A 17-ye ar-old ma le had be en bit ten by his dog. He was gi ven one do se of ra bi es vacci ne af ter be ing bit ten. Twenty days af ter vac ci na ti on, he de ve lo ped comp la ints of itc hing and parest he si a at the bi te are a on his fo re arm. He was trans fer red to our de part ment with the pre li mi nary di ag no sis of ra bi es du e to his comp la ints of fe ver, ab do mi nal pa in, dyspha gi a and dif fi culty of breat hing af ter 3-5 days. Ra bi es vi ral nuc le ic acid was po si ti ve by reverse transcriptase poly me ra ze cha in re ac ti on in the ce reb ros pi nal flu id and sa li va samp les, and cor ne al sme ar was fo und po si ti ve with flu o res cen ce an ti body met hod. Pa ti ent’s comp la ints mar kedly sub si ded af ter hos pi ta li za ti on and he was disc har ged on 66th day with comp le te re co very. In the li te ra tu re, comp le te re co very in pa ti ents with cli ni cal ra bi es is li mi ted to a few ca ses. In this pa per, we pre sent the first ca se re cove ring from hu man cli ni cal ra bi es, who se di ag no sis was con fir med by di rect di ag nos tic met hods. |
