Özet
In this study, the parents of 6th grade students took part in mathematics seminars with the aim of helping their children’s mathematics studies. The purpose of this study was to reveal the opinions of the parents about these parent mathematics seminars. The study was carried out in the 2015-2016 spring and 2016-2017 fall semesters. The parent mathematics seminars were carried out over an eight week period. The duration of each seminar was 2 hours. In these seminars, mathematical concepts that the students learned at school were shared with parents. The parents were also informed about how they can support their children at home about mathematical issues. During the first semester studies, written reflections from the parents were gathered in the middle and at the end of the semester. During the second semester of the study, the parents were asked to write a journal about the study and a face to face meeting was carried out at the end of the study.In the study, the following questions were considered.“How did the seminars affect parents' support for their children?"" What is the change in the way parents look at mathematics before and after seminars?" This wasin order to answer the question:“what are the parents' opinions about the seminar?”.
