Özet |
The rapid progress of modern industry and agriculture is resulted to an extreme amount of wastewater discharging, thus causing a threat for the human health and environmental pollution. The treatment of organic pollutants containing synthetic dyes coming from textile, printing and various industries is direly important before they penetrate to water and end up in soil. A favorable approach of an advanced oxidation process, namely photocatalysis is an alternative and effective technology for the removal of these colored effluents. In this study, the photocatalytic degradation kinetics of Cu2O nanoparticles on Reactive Blue 19 (RB-19), a commercially important anthraquinone dye were systematically investigated with the use of artificial light source (UV-A). Experiments to study the effects of operational parameters including initial dye concentration and amount of photocatalyst were performed to find out optimum conditions. The photocatalytic decolorization percentage of RB-19 was studied using UV–vis spectrophotometer. The photocatalytic degradation process was well described by pseudo-first order kinetics. The results indicated that the decolorization of RB-19 was increased with decreasing the initial dye concentration. |
