Özet |
Background: The current study examines the longitudinal relationships between nine major occupational classes, and self-rated health, somatic complaints, and incidence of six major chronic health conditions.Methods: This study uses 5-year follow-up data from the Lifelines Cohort Study (n= 114,226). Statistics Netherlands coded participants’ occupational class according to the International Standard Classification for Occupations into nine major occupational classes. Self-rated health was assessed with a single question. Somatic complaints were assessed with the somatic subscale of the Symptom Checklist 90. Diagnoses of cardiovascular disease (CVD), type 2 diabetes (T2D), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), musculoskeletal disorder (MSD), burnout and depression were based on self-reports and objective measures.
