Özet
The South East and Eastern Anatolian regions of Turkey contain a vast variety of landscapes, including plateaus, range of mountains and flat lands. This variation in habitats, climate and topography has resulted in diversity of vegetation types in the region. Rapid urbanisation, development of tourism industry, unplanned collection of bulbs by amateur collectors and traditional healers for trade, unplanned grazing etc. are contributing to a rapid decline in their number. There is urgent need to protect the local flora from these threats and introduce methods for their conservation and protection. This makes it necessary to identify local plants, the nature of threat to them and suggest measures to multiply them by cultivation to preserve bio-diversity before they are extinct forever.
