Özet |
The effects of castration and immunization against luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) on carcass characteristics in male goats were investigated. Surgical castration or immuno castration had no significant effect in most of the carcass characteristics studied, excepting the loin eye area showed significant increase. The chemical analysis of longissimus thoracis muscle showed that immunocastration resulted in higher moisture % and ash % compared to surgical castration or control. It was concluded that immunizing buck kids against LHRH using new recombinant LHRH fusion proteins could be an alternative to surgical castration. There is no difference between control and treatment for most of the parameters studied in buck kids production; however, further research is required to determine the effective immunization and slaughter age to improve carcass traits. |
