Özet |
The mistletoe is a semiparasitic angiosperm which attacks a great number of broadleaf and coniferous tree species. It causes large economic losses in forestry and agriculture because infected wood becomes unsuitable for processing and infected trees are predisposed to other infections. Mistletoe increases tree mortality and contributes to forest decline. Control of mistletoe is an important problem for the forest service in Turkey. Plant specimen infected with microfungi was collected from Mucur district in Kırşehir province of Turkey and prepared according to established herbarium techniques. Microscopical features were examined and microphotographs were made using a Leica DM E light microscope. The microfungi were identified using relevant literature. The examined specimens have been deposited in the mycological collection of the Ahi Evran University, Arts and Sciences Faculty, Department of Biology, in Kırşehir province of Turkey. Biological control by natural antagonist is of increasing interest to supplement mechanical and chemical control. The hyperparasitic fungal plant pathogen (Aureobasidium harposporum), which causes leaf spot disease of mistletoe seems to have potential as a tool for biological control of this hemiparasite. In this study; Aureobasidium harposporum on leaves of Viscum album is reported as new to the mycobiota of Turkey. Distinguishing morphological characters are described and illustrated. |
