Özet |
In excavations at Kaman-Kalehöyük since 1986, human and animal (mostly dog) skeletons have been found in pits dating to the Hellenistic period. These skeletons do not seem to have been buried as a mortuary practice. They were not buried in a regular style and were found with many head-size stones, probably thrown together with the skeletons into the pits. Similar samples were recently found through the archaeological studies of the Galatian occupation of Gordion. Additionally, the practices of human and animal sacrifices by the Galatians during the Hellenistic period in Central Anatolia are often mentioned in early literature. The pit burials at Kaman-Kalehöyük seem to indicate the Galatian practice of human and animal sacrifice. |
