Özet
In this study, the effects of 5 different energetic diets (10.85, 11.82, 12.73, 13.69 and 15.06 MJ digestible energy (DE)/kg body weight) with the same protein content (350 g crude protein (CP) per kg diet) on the growth and behaviour of the African catfish C. gariepinus were investigated. Diets were offered to 2 times a day as 2 meals, one was at 0900 and the another at 1700 h for 90 days. Behavioural observations were recorded twice a week for 1 h during 4 successive observations (between 0800-0900, 1000-1100, 1600-1700 and 1800-1900 h) at 10-min intervals. It was shown that fish consuming the lowest (10.85 MJ DE/kg) and intermediate energy (12.73 MJ DE/kg) had similar liveweight gains, but the intermediate energy group provided the best feed and protein efficiency compared to the other diets (P<0.05). The dietary energy level affected swimming, resting, grouping and foraging behaviours of African …
