Özet
Birds attempt to compensate for E: P (energy: protein) imbalance by adjusting dietary intakes from selected foods, and also changes in the birds’ body composition induced by corticosterone (CORT) treatment cause alterations in food selection (Covasa and Forbes, 1995). CORT increases fat synthesis as well as decreasing protein synthesis (Sahin and Forbes, 1997), so the present experiment was conducted to study selection for dietary fat in female growing broiler chickens treated with CORT.Twenty female, broiler chicks, 24-d-old, were used for 28 d and given a choice of 2 foods having 200g CP/kg and either 15· 1g fat and 646· 6g carbohydrate (C) or 190· 6g fat (maize oil) and 127· 5 g carbohydrate/kg fresh food (F).
