Proje Konusu The aim of this study was to determine the potential nutritive value of Buckwheat (Fagopyrumesculentum moench) Stalks using chemical composition and in vitro gas production technique. Buckwheat yield 926.55 kg per decare and dry matter value were found to be 91.42% in September, 2012. Samples taken for laboratory analysis, crude protein 5.43%, ether extract 1.35%, cellulose 39.48%, crude ash 13.85%, nitrogen free extracts 60.77%, neutral detergent fiber 49.11%, acid detergent fiber 42.92%, and acid detergent lignin 9.95% were analyzed. Then metabolic energy value of buckwheat was calculated depending up on the crude nutrient contents. In vitro gas productions of Buckwheat (Fagopyrumesculentum moench) Stalks were determined at 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 24, 48, 72 and 96 h incubation times and their gas production kinetics were described. There are metabolizable energy (ME), net energy lactation (NEL) and organic matter digestibility (OMD). In our country, buckwheat is not breeding yet. But advantages of agricultural cultivation and because does not contain gluten an important place in human nutrition is thought to increase plantations. The results of the study, after the harvest of buckwheat stalks emerging alternative to ruminant animal feed might be used as a source of roughage.
